And Daddy Makes Three

Jonathan finally made it in on July 1. We were expecting them to arrive early afternoon, but delays made it about 8:30 that evening before we were reunited. It was past Layla's bedtime and there was a lot of commotion, so she was not in the best mood to greet Daddy.

We've spent the past week just organizing, relaxing together and letting Layla get comfortable with Daddy. She was definitely intrigued, but a little apprehensive about the man suddenly living with us. Everyday got a little better, and I think she is now very comfortable with Daddy. They play together and she's learned some new faces and sounds since he's been home.

He got a lot of the shy smile from Layla at first. He let her strum his guitar, and she was so proud yet timid. It was too cute.

The 4th of July was a little rainy, but we did get to have a cookout that afternoon, in which Layla had steak for the first time. We then went to the on-post festivities, but Layla is still just too young for the games and rides. Layla was in bed for the fireworks. It wasn't dark until 10:30, so there was no desire to keep her up that late.
Today is the last day of unit reintegration for Jonathan. He's only had to go in for 1-2 hours each day, which has been great. Tomorrow starts regular work day, so we'll see how that goes. We're happy to have Daddy back and we're looking forward to the next stage of our life together.
