These Days

These days I'm trying to get Layla on a better sleeping schedule. She's a little night owl and needs to be rocked soundly asleep before being laid down for nap or bedtime. According to some research I've done lately, she's not getting enough sleep. So, I've been watching for any sleepy signs and putting her down. She doesn't always sleep long, but I'm hoping to help her learn how to put herself back to sleep unassisted soon. Naps are the worst part. She sleeps really well at night.
We've been practicing her sitting up. She's getting stronger and sits up well as long as she has support. She tends to bend in half trying to reach for something interesting, though. She's become much more aware of things and reaches out to try and touch them. Plants, watches and hair are of particular interest. I've also started Layla on a new feeding schedule of part formula, part nursing and solids. I finally found a formula that she will take. I think learning to get used to new tastes with the solids helped her accept the taste of formula. By the way, she now eats sweet potatoes, green beans and squash. I think I'll try a fruit next as a pleasant change.
Layla is adorable, and I'm starting to see some more of her daddy in her. Some of her expressions, especially with her eyes, remind me of Jonathan. That's o.k. by me. He's an attractive man, obviously...I married him.
