New Year

I decided to take my Saturday night and catch up on my blog. I don't even know where to start.

Guess I'll start with Thanksgiving. We made a trip to California to visit Jonathan's side of the family. It had been a little over a year since we were last there. We had a great time visiting with everyone and even took in a pirate/dinner show similar to Medieval Times. We had Thanksgiving there, which felt a little different, especially since we ate outside and the boys were swimming in the pool. November in CA is a tad warmer than I'm accustomed to.

Christmas was different also. We changed tradition up a bit and started some new traditions for our families. My parents came out to our house for Christmas Eve. Oh yeah, the snow. So, it snowed ALL day on Christmas Eve. When my parents left our house that night, they found the interstate closed, cars stranded on the side of the road and people unable to make it up slight inclines. We're not equipped for this snow stuff in TX. After a long detour for another closed highway, they made it home in 3 hours (1hour trip normally).

Christmas day we went to my parents' house along with our normal group of immediate family. We had fun watching the kids open presents. Layla ended up with so many new toys, I cleaned out her room and put away boxes of old toys. She got a play kitchen from Santa, which she loves. She likes to sort and open and close cabinets, so it was right up her alley.

Layla's New Years' resolution (actually my resolution for her) was to give up her pacifier. It was much easier than I thought it would be, and I am thankful. I snipped the tip, so it was broken. She was mad and frustrated, but went to bed after about a 20 minute cry. She's had no real problems going to sleep without it, and seems to have completely forgotten about her soothing friend. Such a big girl!

We stay busy trying to get things done in the new house, and Jonathan with his new job. Having our own house is obviously new ground for us, and I don't know how you'd ever come to a point where there wasn't something else that needed to be done. We have enough little projects to keep us busy for a very long time.

Anyhow, we are very grateful and excited about the new year. We're anxious to see where the Lord takes us and how things turn out. I pray you all have a prosperous 2010!
