It's our first warm, sunny day with no threatening clouds looming. We've already been for a walk outside the wire. Layla's taking a nap, and when she wakes, we're off again. We'll take another walk down to the PX, then plan on playing in the park. We're going to soak up as much sunshine as possible. Who knows how long it will last.
Layla is into everything, and I think her boredom with the few toys she has caused her to find more and more trouble. Nicely folded clothes are irresistable. So, yesterday we went to Toys R Us, where I got her a shopping cart with fruit, a broom and a ball. She played with the shopping cart all day yesterday and already for some time this morning. She's found she can push it around the room, and is figuring out how to turn it another direction when she hits a dead end, usually by brute force. I'm hoping if she learns to walk well with the cart, it will give her confidence to walk on her own. After all, the cart isn't sturdy at all, so she's doing it mostly herself anyway.

She stayed with a babysitter twice this week while I went to reintegration briefings. She loved it. There was another little boy there that was a little older and a nice big playroom. She didn't care that I left, but, luckily, was excited when I came back. She's had plenty of little playmates lately, although they don't tend to play together much. They usually end up playing by themselves and occasionally stealing a toy. Oh, well. Sometimes they will offer up a toy or give a kiss, which is cute.

Well, Layla took two independent steps this morning. I don't even think she realized she did it. I was laying on the floor with my knees bent and she was playing with my legs. She let go and stood there, took two steps towards me and jumped on me. She may be finally realizing what to do with those little feet. It won't be long now. This is totally superficial, but I want her to learn to walk so she can wear some cute little dresses and outfits she hasn't been able to wear. I don't like how dirty she gets crawling on the ground and her little knees get scraped up from crawling on the sidewalk outside. Plus, it scrapes up her shoes.

Today we went to the strawberry fields. Layla sat in the stoller while Mommy picked. She tried fresh strawberries for the first time. I don't think she's so sure about them. It may take a while to develop a taste for them.
Layla doesn't want me to feed her with a spoon at all anymore. She wants to do it herself. So, when she wouldn't let me feed her the spaghetti for lunch today, I gave in, poured it in a bowl and let her do it herself. We had quite the mess. It was also getting close to nap time, so she rubbed her eye (notice the orange left eye). I put her in the bath tub to clean up real quick. She decided to stand up and try to reach some bottles on the edge of the tub, slipped and slid back down the length of the tub. It didn't hurt her, but scared the daylights out of her. I could see the look of panic on her face as she slid, bracing for impact. So, it's been an eventful morning.

I'm going to conclude this post before it turns into a 4 day post.
