End of August Already?!

I can't believe it's almost been a month since I've posted! I've just been having so much fun with Layla, it's hard to tear myself away sometimes to write about it. She has the cutest little personality. We call her "princess". She is so happy most of the time. She's impatient when it comes time to eat, and she's a night owl like her mommy.

We tried the pool again at Uncle Doug and Aunt Deb's house. This time she enjoyed it much more. It was still over 100 degrees, so even though she was slathered in baby sunscreen, she only stayed out 10 minutes or so. We put her in the floating chair where she relaxed while Uncle Doug motor boated her around the pool. She enjoyed the royal treatment.

Mommy decided Layla is much too skinny, although she nurses all the time, so I started her on some veggies. First up - sweet potatoes. Yummy! She didn't even make a nasty face on the first bite. Those have gone well, so we'll try a different type of cereal next. Plus, she's now stable enough to sit in her high chair. She looks a little lost in it, but at least she can sit at the table with everyone else.
Layla has also discovered that her toes are a yummy treat. They found their way to her mouth a couple of weeks ago. Mommy now has to make sure her feet are always clean, but they are always nice and handy.

Things are going well here and in Iraq. Months of minimal rain here have left us unable to launch our boats or get on the water. A 2.5 foot drop in water level has left many stumps and sandbars inches beneath the surface. We are in desperate need of rain. Jonathan would be pleasantly surprised by any emails or packages. He doesn't need anything he can't consume, because he doesn't have the ability to carry everything from place to place. Snacks and pictures are always welcome. He does have a new mailing address:
