God Bless Texas

We're back in Texas! And boy am I glad. I just want to say we have the best baby ever. We had a short flight to Amsterdam, a two hour layover, then the 9 1/2 hour flight to DFW. There were plenty of screaming babies on the plane, but Layla was not one of them. I want to give kudos to KLM airlines. Their friendly stuartesses, in-flight entertainment and food were the best I've experienced. The stuartess moved us to bulkhead seats where Layla had a bassinet attached to the wall in front of me. She slept, ate and laid in the bassinet. She smiled and talked to the people waiting in line for the bathroom, but never cried. It was the best flight I've had.

We arrived on Father's Day. Our first stop was Black Eyed Pea for some veggies. I haven't been cooking since Jonathan left. We were surprised with a phone call from Jonathan during lunch. It was nice to hear from him and tell him "Happy Father's Day". He's doing well, just tired and worn out most of the time. We've heard from him more than he expected, so it's been comforting.

After lunch, we went to Burleson where my family got to meet Layla for the first time. No one seemed too interested in seeing me. It was a relief to have a break and let other people hold her, bounce her and change diapers. She's done really well here in Texas. The adjustment to the time change has her going to bed earlier, which is sooo nice. She's sleeping longer and going longer between feedings, which is something I've been looking forward to. It's hard to get anything done when she has to eat every 2 hours. She's become even more vocal and smiley. She likes to talk to Oma (my mom) and draws a crowd everywhere we go. We had a whole huddle of old ladies at Wal Mart ooohhhing and aaahhhing over her. She really is beautiful.

I'm glad that the flight went so well and that you got there safe. What an awesome treat to have Jonathan call on Father's Day. That's really cool. It's wonderful having family around to help out with even the small things. She's such a cutie.
