Mother's Day

Well, my first Mother's Day is coming to an end, and I have to say it was a good day. First of all, I've only been a mother for six weeks, but I can already tell you that I wish I had made a bigger deal of Mother's Day for my mom all those years. Only now do I realize how much time, energy, blood, sweat and tears she put in to being a mom. It's definitely a hard job, and this day should be celebrated with the enthusiasm of Christmas.

That being said, my day started off with a funny story. "Layla" bought me flowers for the occassion. "She" bought them the night before and had to do some sneaking to get them in the house and hidden. "Layla" couldn't find a vase, because I have been packing and they're all in the attic. In the midst of hiding and looking for a vase, "Layla" forgot to get the flowers in water, so this morning I had a beautiful bouquet of droopy flowers. Hey, she's new at this!

Then we went downtown and took some pictures of Layla. We wanted her to have some pics of her in the town in which she was born. She may never make it back.

Then we walked down the street for ice cream. Layla treated me to a double scoop of apple and banana ice cream. It was delicious! It was such a beautiful day. I couldn't have asked for a better Mother's Day or a better daughter.
