Little Layla is sleeping peaceful
ly on the couch giving mommy time to write. In the last week, my mom left, which was a sad affair. It was fun to see my mom bond with my daughter. Now, I get to experience the "real life" with a newborn. It's hard to get anything done around the house with a baby that needs constant attention. At first, she was doing well sleeping in her own bed. Now, we've digressed to her sleeping on my chest or next to me in bed. It doesn't bother me right now, because she's so small and sweet. But, I know one day she'll be getting too heavy and move around much more. I hope we can achieve a new sleeping configuration soon.

It's not all hard. Yesterday Layla and I went for a walk with her in her carrier. She laid her head against my chest and immediately fell asleep. I'm glad she enjoys the carrier, so I have an opportunity to get out and enjoy fresh air and sunshine with her in tow. She's doing great with her "tummy time". She can lift her head and turn it from side to side. We practice rolling over, and I know she'll have it down all too soon.
I can't believe she's alrea
dy 3 weeks old! Time is flying by so fast. We've already noticed slight changes in her features. Her belly button is finally healing into a real belly button. After her umbilical cord came off, a small nub stayed attached. It's taken a long time to heal, and I will certainly appreciate that sweet belly once it's completely healed. She's a healthy eater (judging by the number of poopy diapers I change). Being a mommy should qualify for the "Dirty Jobs" tv show. I don't know how many times I've been pooped on and spit up on.

Although, don't feel afraid to send email or call. If I'm too busy, I'll let you know. I like hearing from everyone.
