How time flies! I can't believe my baby girl is already 2 weeks old. She's been such a wonderful baby, and adjusting to our new life is getting easier every day. She's been shopping a couple of times, on a longer trip to visit friends and to her first ice cream parlor. She's getting used to sleeping in her bed, and sleeps longer between feedings now. I'm getting so much more sleep. I'm learning what her cries mean. Now I can tell the difference between "I'm hungry" and "I'm working on pooping my pants". She likes to bounce. I sit on my pilates ball and bounce her up and down. She loves car rides, and quickly falls into a deep sleep. She's taken to breastfeeding really well, and will also take a bottle. After she eats, she has the most satisfied, sleepy look on her face and smiles. So sweet.
Yesterday she had her 2 week Dr. appt. She now weighs 8lb 13oz, which is a few ounces less than when she was born, but still healthy. She got another vitamin K shot in her thigh, which caused the most pitiful, red-faced scream I've ever seen. Then, after falling peacefully asleep, she was awakened by a heel stick. It was a rough 2 hours, but she was so good.
Jonathan has taken well to being a daddy. He's really sweet with her, and holds her when she's fussy, so I can finish dinner or some other task. He handled a major poopy diaper this morning. Unfortunately, she wasn't finished, which caused a huge mess in the middle of the changing. He handled it like a pro, then picked out her clothes for the day and changed her. It made me smile. Of course, he's already made her an honorary UT Longhorn. Layla will most likely be "Daddy's girl".
