What's her name??

With less than 6 weeks to go until D-Date, I get asked that question often (even by my own husband). Well, I can say with about 99% certainty that her first name is Layla. After all, I did have it burned into wood at one of the booths at the bazaar I attended last weekend. She now has a sign that says "Layla's Room Germany '08" to hang on her bedroom door, and maybe even her dorm room door some day.
As for a middle name, Jonathan and I have yet to agree. I like short, one syllabal names i.e. Grace, Reese, Paige (my middle name). He likes longer names that will be a challenge for a frustrated mom to yell at a misbehaving toddler (not that I expect my sweet baby to ever misbehave).
Names are so permanent and sometimes it seems our character is partly molded by our name. I never liked my middle name until I got older. It always seemed so odd to me, and people really became intrigued when they found out it started with a "P". How many normal names start with a "P"? Jonathan has two middle names, which poses its own problems. There are never blanks on forms for two middle names, so one always gets dropped. It causes more inconsistency and trouble than it's worth.
So, all that to say, we're certainly open for suggestions. Good luck trying to come up with a name I haven't come across on the thousands of baby names websites out there. Even after we come up with the perfect name, I'm sure one day she'll be complaining to her friends about the goofy name her parents gave her. We all do.

Britt,

Layla is a beautiful name, good choice. I agree with you on the one syllable middle name, it seems like it would flow better. I am sure whatever you guys come up with will be perfect. Love and miss you guys. Good luck can't wait to see all the pics of little Layla.
