Puerto Rico

When we first moved to Germany in 2005, the Lord blessed me with an awesome friend, Sarah, and her family. Jonathan deployed within 6 weeks of arriving in country. Sarah kept me sane during the 8 months, made sure I ate everyday, cared for my safety and provided a perfect example of a military wife and mother who trusted the Lord with her life and family. They are now stationed in Puerto Rico, so Layla and I took a week to visit one of our favorite families-the Baker's.

We made it to the beach three days. Layla LOVED the water and sand. She dug her feet and hands in the sand and, every once in a while, got a taste. She played for hours and it was a tough job to get the sand out of every crevice at the end of the day.

We spent an afternoon in old San Juan walking around. We walked a beautiful path by the water. We also got pina coladas at a roadside stand.
We spent a day at El Yunque rainforest. We hiked up to a series of three waterfalls and played in the pools. It was COLD water, but Layla didn't mind. We stripped her down and she splashed around. It was such a gorgeous area.

We did spend some downtime at the Baker house. We swam in the pool in the backyard and Layla enjoyed watching and playing with the kids. She did well adjusting to the new surroundings and sleeping. We took a walk around the neighborhood, and I enjoyed seeing all the different architecture and gorgeous homes. It's so different from home, but I loved almost every bit.

Dang, at this rate Layla will have her passport filled up long before I get mine filled, and she isn't even a year old yet. Heehee. Don't worry, I am just jealous.
